NPFL BOARD CONDUCTS SEMINAR FOR CLUB CSOs AND SUPPORTERS' CLUB CHAIRMEN AHEAD OF AUGUST 31ST LEAGUE KICK-OFF
In preparation for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season, the NPFL Board, in partnership with FIFA, CAF, and the NFF, has organized a one-day seminar for Chief Security Officers and Supporters' Club Chairmen from the twenty NPFL teams.
The seminar's purpose was to promote safety and address issues of violence and hooliganism before, during, and after domestic league matches.
Prince Davidson Owumi, Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL Board, stated, "The seminar aims to educate stakeholders responsible for maintaining peace and order at match venues. We are also providing them with digital copies of the materials covered, hoping for a positive impact at their respective clubs. This seminar is intended to set a positive trajectory for the league."
Participants, including Iloakazi Orji, Chairman of Rangers International FC's Supporters Club, expressed appreciation for the seminar and committed to sharing the knowledge gained with their members.
Henry Chijioke, NPFL Head of Safety and Security, noted, "We recognize that clubs have faced sanctions for misconduct, affecting the league's public image. Our goal is to instill discipline in stakeholders to enhance the league’s quality."
The seminar emphasized the need for collaboration between Chief Security Officers, Supporters' Clubs, and Security Agencies to ensure safe match-day environments.
Similar seminars and workshops have been conducted for Media Directors, Coaches, and Captains of the twenty NPFL clubs in Makurdi, Benue State, and Abuja, all aimed at improving the league's overall performance.
The NPFL Board has scheduled August 31st as the start date for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
