Remo Stars are eliminated from the CAF Champions League.
NPFL runners-up Remo Stars have once again been eliminated at the first stage by the same team, ASFAR of Morocco. The Ikenne club lost 2-0 in Morocco on Sunday night, resulting in a 3-2 aggregate defeat after their 2-1 victory in the first leg in Nigeria. Despite holding the hosts to a goalless first half, Remo Stars conceded two goals after the break, including one from a controversial penalty awarded after defender Ifeanyi Anaemena was deemed to have pulled a Moroccan attacker’s shirt.
With El Kanemi Warriors also knocked out by Dadje of Benin, only two Nigerian clubs remain in continental competitions this year: Enugu Rangers in the Champions League and Enyimba in the Confederation Cup.
