Preview of the World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 2024: Complete Schedule and Viewing Information
Following the thrilling action at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the world’s top junior track and field athletes are gearing up to showcase their talents at the World Athletics U20 Championships.
This year's Championships will take place in Lima, Peru, marking the first time Peru has hosted a World Athletics Series event.
The competition will be held at the Estadio Atlético de la Villa Deportiva Nacional in Lima, which accommodates up to 6,800 spectators. The stadium, which also served as a venue for athletics during the 2019 Pan American Games, had its capacity temporarily expanded to 12,000 for those Games.
The event will run over five days, from August 27 to 31.
A total of 1,720 athletes from 134 teams will compete in Lima, including several Olympians from Paris 2024, across 45 medal events. Of these, 909 athletes will compete in men’s events, 793 in women’s events, and 18 in mixed events.
Four defending champions from the 2022 World U20 Championships will also return to compete.
