Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia secured a 2-0 victory over Kano Pillars Football Club of Kano on Sunday in a Week 4 match of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).
Sunday Megwo opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute, igniting excitement among the home crowd. With a strong turnout of supporters, the Umuahia team intensified their attacks, but Kano Pillars' goalkeeper, Idreesu Ibrahim, made a crucial save in the 20th minute. The Warriors doubled their lead in the 37th minute, ending the first half 2-0 under Coach Imama Amakapabo.
In the second half, Kano Pillars emerged with renewed determination to find the net, but their attempts were effectively neutralized by the Warriors' defense.
With this win, Abia Warriors now have 5 points from 4 matches, following a 0-2 defeat to Remo Stars in their opener and draws of 1-1 against Akwa United and 0-0 against Sunshine Stars.
In another match, Rivers United from Port Harcourt also defeated Enyimba FC of Aba 2-0 on Sunday.
