NPFL Na Our Own
Rangers, holding tight to the crown they flaunt,
Defending with swagger, but now the cracks taunt.
Champions from yesterday, today’s got them sweating,
Trying to keep glory in the midst of the betting.
Remo Stars, Arsenal’s kin in this land,
Always so close, but with fate not so grand.
They nearly took it, but ah, they did bottle,
Left the fans gasping, caught in the struggle.
Enyimba, Nzogbu Nzogbu, the win at all cost,
With mentality iron-clad, they can’t bear to be lost.
“Winner take all” is their favorite chant,
But oh, how they often leave their fans in a rant.
Shooting Stars with their up-sooting cheer,
Making all noise, but trophies stay clear.
Their drum beats are loud, their chants are so strong,
But the shiny gold medal? It never tags along.
Plateau United, pulling another surprise,
A fluke title might just be in their eyes.
Shooting stars on a bumpy ride,
While Plateau dreams of destiny by their side.
Lobi Stars, a soldier lost in the fray,
Marching in circles, as victory drifts away.
Trying to find purpose in a chaotic scene,
A lost battalion with hopes never seen.
Katsina United, what are they up to?
Trying and failing, they haven’t a clue.
Maybe a miracle will make things right,
Or they’ll just stumble in the football fight.
Rivers United, they think it’s the Port Harcourt flair,
That’ll give them the title, but the trophy’s still bare.
Selina’s sweet song might be the wrong muse,
In the quest for the title, they’ve got the blues.
Bendel Insurance, Ada Bendel’s got back,
But despite her fat behind, their winning streak lacks.
Staying behind, never quite in the fray,
While the title dances just out of their way.
Sunshine Stars, they don’t dazzle, they don’t gleam,
Their name’s a promise, but it’s just a dream.
Not shining bright, despite the sun in their name,
They limp through the league, a bit of a shame.
Kano Pillars with Masu Gida pride,
Hoping for 2014’s magic to ride.
But the past is just history, a story once told,
And the new season’s script is still to unfold.
Abia Warriors, they fought the Northern crew,
But couldn’t win the battle when it was due.
Their valiant hearts couldn’t win them the fight,
Against northern might on a crucial night.
Kwara United, dismantled and torn,
In the game of football, they were forlorn.
Trying to rebuild, but the structure’s so weak,
Their dreams of glory seem so bleak.
Niger Tornadoes, without a storm’s might,
Their force has faded, they’re not quite right.
A gentle breeze in the football arena,
Not the tempest that once was their demeanor.
Bayelsa United, known for a slap,
But trophies? They’re still in a scrap.
Slapping their rivals, but the title’s aloof,
Their antics are flashy, but they lack the proof.
Akwa United, with a stadium so grand,
Thinking it’s beauty that’ll give them the stand.
But glitz and glamour don’t win the gold,
And their quest for victory remains untold.
Heartland with heart beyond any limits,
But despite their passion, they’re not winning grounds.
Heart is strong, but the results are slim,
Their endless love for the game doesn’t seem to win.
Nasarawa United, miners of points,
Digging for victory in all the joints.
But finding the treasure’s an elusive quest,
Their effort’s there, but the trophy’s not blessed.
Ikorodu City, Lagos noise in their plan,
Aiming for glory, as loud as they can.
The city’s heartbeat may try to make waves,
But the footballing dreams seem like distant graves.
Elkanemi Warriors, fearless as ever,
Facing Rangers with no sign of surrender.
But fearlessness alone doesn’t win the game,
And they’re caught in the frenzy, chasing the fame.
NPFL, oh our own football tale,
Filled with drama, and victories frail.
From Rangers to Elkanemi, and everyone in between,
It’s a league of dreams, a melodramatic scene.
