AFCON Qualifiers: 20 Players Arrive Camp as Super Eagles Hold First Training Session Ahead of Libya Clash
Around 20 Super Eagles players have arrived at camp ahead of the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifying matches against Libya. Nigeria will face the Mediterranean Knights in a double-header, starting with a home game before traveling to Benghazi for the second leg four days later.
The Super Eagles' camp in Uyo opened on Monday, with goalkeepers Amas Obasogie and Stanley Nwabali being the first to arrive. They were soon joined by eight more players on Tuesday morning, led by Bayer Leverkusen’s in-form striker Victor Boniface. This group also included Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Benjamin Tanimu, Raphael Onyedika, and Samuel Chukwueze.
Later in the day, Ademola Lookman, who is a strong contender for African Player of the Year after his outstanding performances this year, arrived along with team captain William Troost-Ekong, goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, and winger Moses Simon.
The squad is now awaiting the arrival of the final three players: Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke from Sevilla, and wingback Bright Osayi-Samuel, to complete the team.
