NPFL Issues Warning to Clubs on Contract Violations
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a strong warning to clubs facing allegations of overdue payments and contract violations.
The league has set a deadline of Monday, October 14, for all clubs to resolve these issues or risk having the licenses of their new players revoked indefinitely.
Previously, the NPFL had extended the deadline for these clubs, as instructed by the Players Status Committee, but the grace period ended yesterday.
The clubs accused of overdue payments and contract violations include Heartland, Shooting Stars (3SC), Bendel Insurance, Kwara United, Lobi Stars, El-Kanemi Warriors, Abia Warriors, Enyimba, Katsina United, and Akwa United.
Heartland, in particular, faces multiple complaints involving former coach Kennedy Boboye, and players such as Ezekiel Bassey, Stephen Chukwudi, Itodo Ocheme, Prince Momoh, Aputazie Ugochukwu, Samuel Emeka Onukwube, Ifeanyi Anyanwu, Austin Osayande, Patrick Nwogbara, and Chukwudi Esobe.
Other clubs, like Shooting Stars, Bendel Insurance, Kwara United, Lobi Stars, and El-Kanemi Warriors, are dealing with overdue payments and contract breaches involving players such as Sikiru Alimi, Yusuf Akeem Shira, Adekunle Ayobami Samuel, Solomon Babatunde, and Lordson Ichull.
