Rivers Hoopers Secure Another Basketball Championship, Earn Continental Spot
Rivers Hoopers have once again asserted their dominance in Nigerian basketball by clinching the National Premier Basketball League title for the second consecutive year in impressive fashion. The defending champions remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, capping their perfect run with a commanding 71-54 win over Hoops and Read in the final.
This victory marks their second consecutive league title and their sixth championship in 13 years, further cementing their reputation as a powerhouse in Nigerian basketball.
Kelvin Amayo was the standout player in the final, delivering an outstanding performance with 29 points. His consistent excellence throughout the tournament has made him the frontrunner for the Best Player of the Tournament award.
Earlier in the day, Gboko City Chiefs secured third place with a narrow 56-53 win over Nile University. After finishing as runners-up last year, the Chiefs are determined to push for the title in the next edition of the tournament.
With this victory, Rivers Hoopers have earned automatic qualification for the Basketball Africa League (BAL), where they will represent Nigeria. The Hoopers now set their sights on claiming the continental trophy and further strengthening their legacy.
